A

This A started out as a Y.  I wanted the lines in this to look like they flowed into each other when they really don't.  For instance, there is a sharp triangular shape horizontally coming off the right side, and on the left there is a squiggly line.  I tried to make it look like these flowed into each other. I thought the dark blue went well with the black.  I wanted the color to look subtle, and I wanted it on one side only.

Two

Two is my second(hehe) favorite number.   I love how streamlined it is.  The curves are interesting to play around with.  I wanted to make the long curve at the top look like it was melting, so I added in a "droplet". I also wanted to play around with negative space, so I cut out lines on the figure to make it look more spacious.

Seven

Seven is probably my favorite number.  I love its sharp, quick shape that it has.  I tried making it look even sharper than it is.  I also tried to make it more blade-like by serrating it and making it thinner.

body&mind

I like to think with synesthesically.  As long as I remember, I have always applied color to life.  Every object, idea, sound, or feeling is instantly assigned its own unique color.  When I think about my physical body, I see lively, blood-like red colors.  When I think about my mind, I see electric blue-ish colors.  I wanted to create a mesh of the two without completely combining the colors and forming a new color.  The two faces in this piece are supposed to represent the two sides of me: my body and my mind.

I love pretty much any shade of blue.

Influential Artists

http://iso50.com/iso50.html           Scott Hansen(ISO50)-visual artist/graphic designer/photographer
---Scott is a talented graphic designer turned artist.  He had minimal formal training and is very skilled with computers.  I follow his blog which varies with topics on design, art, music, and media.  He uses photoshop for most of his prints and I am amazed at how good he is with color.

http://www.myspace.com/mrbibio         Stephen Wilkinson(Bibio)-musician/sound artist/visual artist/photographer
---I've been following Bibio's work for around 4 years, and he continues to astound me in how skilled he is with sound.  He is a talented guitarist who uses very old equipment and instruments to get incredibly interesting combinations of tones and sounds.

http://www.pbs.org/art21/artists/mcgee/index.html       Barry McGee-visual artist/street artist
---I found out about Barry McGee through RVCA's Artist Network Program.  He started out in street art, but now does a wide range of things with his talent such as clothing, installations, and printmaking.

http://www.stevereich.com/          Steve Reich-sound artist
---Steve Reich is an early sound artist and one of the first composers to make tape loops.  His art is very hypnotizing and full of intricate phasing patterns made from short samples.  His work is very minimalist and not entirely musical.

Art

Art is an expression of the deep thoughts that are currently lingering in the back of your mind.
